Charity Car Shows

2004
This year again we used the grounds of the Riverview Corporate Center (with option to use covered parking garage). We were uncertain how much money our "Vette Together for Charity" Show would be able to raise for the Gabriel House. Florida had 3 hurricanes in a row that devastated many homes around the southern and central area and many people had already given to their aid. To our amazement, it was a phenomenal show. We had a great response in sponsorships and another overwhelming silent auction. There were at least 153 cars in the show (counted late in the day). This year, with the proceeds, we were able to give our charity $11,126.00. Thanks to all our sponsors big and small.
2003
The "Vette Together for Charity" Show was again held at the Riverview Corporate Center. We had the option of using the covered parking garage if the weather was inclement, but didn't need it. The same money makers were used since they always come through the silent auction, that was huge this year. We had several more cars this year since the weather was cooperative. The proceeds from this show enabled us to give the Gabriel House $8,600.00
2002
Riverview Corporate Center again graciously allowed us to use their grounds for the "Vette Together for Charity" show. Despite the horrendous beginning of freezing cold rain and wind, our show was a success. From our silent auction, grab bag, food sales and 50/50 raffle proceeds, we were able to give to one charity, the Gabriel House, a check for $6,100.00. Not bad for a miserable weather day.
2001
We went for more exposure at a new location since Sam's built a gas station and there wasn't enough space for the show. We were accepted by Riverview Corporate Center on US 41 North in Bonita. Our charities were the Ricky King Foundation and the Gabriel House. We had a great silent auction and many hamburgers and hotdogs were sold along with our bake sale goodies. There were some great looking cars to judge. We managed to raise $5,000.00 for our charities this year.
2000
We are back at Sam's this year and still using Premium Productions for trophies and judging but have eliminated the T-shirts (they don't seem to be a hot item anymore). Approximately 200 cars were in attendance and many spectators even though the temperature was sizzling. Our funds didn't quite match the last few shows. We still managed to give each charity $2,500.00 each. We went with the same two we had last year. We have pretty much decided on the Gabriel House as a main charity after some of our members reported on their needs.
1999
Our 7th Annual Vette together for Charity Show was for the Gabriel House and again for the Ricky King Foundation. This year, because of circumstances with Sam's renovating problems, we held our event at the Grand Central Station parking lot on Goodlette. The attendance was down a little possibly due to the location. However, it was a beautiful day, we had lots of cars, good food, great people and loads of fun. We were still able to give each of our charities $3,500 after all expenses were paid.
1998
We did this year's show a little different. We used Premium Productions to do the judging, making the trophies and show T-shirts. This also made the club members eligible for judging. We opened the show to ALL cars, not just Corvettes, and attendance grew to 224 cars and trucks. We even ended up having a category for bicycles. And this also brought in more "hungry" spectators and the food sales were higher, helping us raise monies for two charities -- Youth Haven and the Ricky King Foundation, each receiving $3,600.00.
1997
Our 5th annual show was located at our good friend's, the Sam's Club. This year we chose The Gabriel House to receive the proceeds of $5,000. The weather was a factor in this show, but we did good despite it. The silent auction, grab bag, People's Choice Award, Bobbie Sox and his music, our annual show T-shirts and the food, helped make the show a success.
1996
Again Sam's Club was the location for this event. Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southwest Florida was chosen as this year's recipient of the proceeds. We were able to sponsor two wishes-one in Lee County and one in Collier County at $3,400 each. The Silent Auction, vendors, The People's Choice award, along with judging in several categories (Club Members' cars were ineligible this year) annual show T-shirts made this year's show a success. Arrow 94.5 sponsored the event.
1995
This year's event was again held at Sam's Club in Naples. Over 100 Corvettes were on display. An expanded Silent Auction, delicious chicken on the grill, competition in peoples choice voting, the T-shirts and goodie bags and oldies music provided by Bobby Sox, along with another beautiful day in paradise, helped to make this another successful show. We raised $8,400 and donated $2,400 each to Collier Special Olympics and Literacy Volunteers of America.
1994
Sam's Club on Immokalee Road in Naples was the location of our second show. Enlarged greatly, the event included a silent auction, arts and crafts, entertainment, automotive flea market, garage sale, an expanded food menu and Collier County Sheriff's Office provided tours on the BAT Mobile. We gave our annual show a name: "Vette Together for Charity", had T-shirts made, and gave away goodie bags to all the participants. There were 106 show cars and 25 in For Sale Arena. Special entries included the Lee County D.A.R.E. Corvette and sic National Council of Corvettes Club State Championship cars. A total of $7,000 was raised. Proceeds of $5,000 benefited Mothers Against Drunk Drivers Southwest Florida Chapter and $2,000 was given to a club member inflicted with cancer. Bob Taylor Chevrolet and Arrow 94.5 Radio sponsored the event.
1993
Our first show was held at Corvettes Only on Trade Center Way, Naples. Big Brothers/Big Sisters was the recipient of $1,200 raised during the event. Show cars totaled 45 and 15 for sale were on display. We had 65 members in the club.
